Aims & scope

The journal "Business Trends" is a scientific, reviewed periodical published by the Faculty of Economics, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, the Czech Republic. The aim of the journal is to publish original theoretical and application outputs of the Czech and foreign authors, mainly focusing on business economics and management. The journal is also open to contributions dealing with interdisciplinary topics because only this way the issues of the current economic practice can be solved both theoretically and also by means of applied procedures, and like this, the findings concerning new and innovative methods can be disseminated. The journal aims mainly at topics including the development of new methods, innovations of applied procedures and the latest trends in business economics, management, marketing, finance and accounting. The journal is meant for professional audience, including:
  • professional and scientific workers of educational institutions specializing in the fields within the scope of the journal;
  • managers and executives especially in the business sector;
  • students of the follow up master and doctoral studies in the field of business management.
Business trends is a methodologically pluralistic journal. It provides results based on quantitative, qualitative and mixed research as well as conceptual contributions and articles developing theoretical cognition. Tests of empirical hypotheses and treatises containing case studies are also frequently published. Each article is reviewed by two reviewers anonymously. The reviews are provided by the editorial board of the journal. The journal cannot publish any articles that were published or offered for publication in another journal or a book.

The journal has been included in ERIH PLUS.

Types of paper
The journal Business Trends publishes original research articles, overviews and commentaries. Submission of an article implies that the work has not been published or considered for publication elsewhere.
We publish original empirical and theoretical papers, which contribute to understanding business and management in private and public organizations. Journal Business Trends is open to different research approaches in terms of methodology and epistemology. We are open to various fields of business and management application.

Ethics in publishing
The publication of a manuscript in Journal Business Trends is expected to follow standards of ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: authors, editors, and reviewers.

Conflict of interest
All authors are requested to disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest including any financial, personal or other relationships with other people or organizations.

Submission declaration  
Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis).
Submission of an article implies that its publication has been approved by all co-authors.

Copyright
This journal offers authors publishing their research as Open access. All published articles are immediately and permanently free for everyone who reads and downloads journal.
If author wishes to include any material in her/his manuscript in which author does not hold copyright, author must obtain written permission from the copyright owner, prior to submission.
An author submitting a paper agrees to license Trendy v podnikání / Business Trends to publish the paper if and when the manuscript is accepted.
Downloads of papers in Trendy v podníkání / Business Trends are permitted for personal and educational use only. Commercial use requires explicit permission from the Editor-in-Chief.

Manuscript submission
The contributions should be submitted electronically only to the contact e-mail address of the editorial office.
The extent of the contribution is preferred up to 8 pages, A4 format (A typical manuscript will not exceed 6000 words including tables). All the contributions are to be word processed by means of Microsoft Word, type of font is Arial Narrow 12 pt, single spacing, all margins 2.50 cm, no pagination. Paragraphs are to be aligned in blocks with no indentation of line 1, the space before a paragraph is 6 pt. To move the text please use tabulator. Quotations in the text are to be used by APA. The list of sources at the end of the article is listed alphabetically according to the first author. Tables and figures are to be placed continuously in the text. They are to be numbered with the name given above each table or figure, type of font is Arial Narrow 10 pt, bold, aligned to the left. There must be a source used by the author under each table or figure, aligned to the right. Each table or figure must be referred to in the text. To describe mathematical relations please use Equation editor. Formulas are to be indicated by a number in round brackets, using font Arial Narrow 12 pt, aligned to the right, next to the formula.
If the article states the results of a particular project, the code and the project name may be quoted at the end of the contribution (before the list of references), or, as the case may be, it may also identify the provider (all in italics).
All authors of a manuscript should include their full names, affiliations, postal addresses and email addresses. One author should be identified as the corresponding author. Biographical notes on authors are not required for this journal.
Journal does not charge submission fees or page charges. 


Peer review policy
Contribution submitted to the journal should not have been published before in their current or substantially similar form, or be under consideration for publication with another journal. An author submitting a paper agrees to license Business Trends to publish the paper if and when the manuscript is accepted.
All research contributions published in Trendy v podnikání / Business Trends undergo full peer review. Peer review is the evaluation to maintain standards of quality.
The editor considers each contribution and decides whether it corresponds with the scope of the journal Trendy v podnikání / Business Trends. All contributions considered for publication are then double blind peer reviewed by suitably qualified experts.


Archiving policy
Authors of articles published in Trendy v podnikání (Business Trends) are permitted to self-archive the submitted (preprint) version.
Print version – according to the law (Act No. 46/2000, CZ) journal is archived In the National Library of the Czech Republic and in regional libraries in the Czech Republic. Digital archiving – Library of the West Bohemia University (4 issues of one year on CD).
